This is a story of two lovers who almost never were.

Marah and Nick matched on Hinge in March 2022. While the two agree to disagree on who swiped right first, there was mutual attraction from the very beginning. Nick was drawn to her Caitlin Clark-level basketball skills, while Marah was drawn to Nick’s sense of adventure.

Nick, the oh-so-punctual investment banker, quickly shot his shot. One day passes … and then two. A week later, and still no response. The truth is, Marah was in the midst of some major career changes, and simply didn’t have time. She never planned on responding.

But then he sends a follow-up text. Thank god for that follow-up. She felt like an “a*shole” and finally responded to set-up their first date.

So in April 2022, the two met at a local speakeasy and over some very strong cocktails, shared their love for traveling, natural wine & their similar senses of humor. 

Their love blossomed like the cherry blossoms that spring. And as spring transitioned into summer, Seattle temps reached sweltering highs - and so did their love.

Nick invited Marah to spend July 4th weekend with his closest friends. It was definitely a test - to see if she could “hang” - and she passed with flying colors. On July 5th, Nick asked Marah if he could introduce her to his parents as “his girlfriend.” 

The two decided to take their first international trip together over the holidays to Oaxaca, Mexico, one of Nick’s favorite places in the world. The two fell deeper in love as they explored the colorful streets, ate delicious food and immersed themselves in the beautiful culture. 

Their holiday ended with the two crossing the Tijuana border - but that story is for another time. It was this trip when they knew this was it - and as they say “when you know, you know.”

Nick proposed to Marah in March 2024, at T-Dock, where he first said “I love you” one summer night 1.5 years prior.

And when they were deciding where to have their wedding, it was a no-brainer that it was in the place they first knew this story was forever.
